Positive signs for decrease in the crime, but is it enough

World is beautiful because it is full of nature which allows us to escape from daily routine and bring peace to our mind. There are amazing creatures that build up a very strong section without which the natural world would not exist. Among all creatures elephant is one of the most amazing and beautiful animal.

It is created with a tusk that distinguishes it from many others and on the negative side it is a major reason of its declining numbers. Many countries like US, China, the UK to Africa and Hong Kong are now putting into effect strict rules and regulations to stop the theft and let this animal special live and let the future generation know and study its life span.
The cruelty is also being addressed in Africa, and where the implementations are strict, the outcome is very positive. But still there are areas that show a high rate of slaughtering and obtaining its tusks for money.

The question comes in mind that where are the problem areas and where real reforms can be seen in this direction. East Africa has faced a decrease by half in the elephant population, but now the killings have decreased to a large extent.

But it is the central which is a matter of concern. There is still a very high rate of targeting this animal for trading and there is no stop to it. A very high rate of trade has been seen in this regard but it may be due to a panic sell as a result of the ban which has started to take effect in key countries.

There have been evidences that ivory is still being processed in Africa for Asian markets. This is the worked ivory which is in the shape of ornaments that are easily carried through air in small volumes hardly noticeable. But it is not a public failure, it is on part of the government to control such an act and employ authoritative stand on the activity.
The Eastern side is a clear depiction of how things get better when serious and stern rules are exercised to solve havoc. People should have the feeling of getting caught any time while doing an unlawful action for inducing a halt to this mess. Law, if practiced in its true sense can give a turn around to illegal activities.

55 elephants being killed every day is not a joke. There is no time to waste, WWF’s wildlife policy manager Colman O’Criodain notifies. Some very major and firm steps have to be taken to get the situation back to track.

What the figures show is that after 2011 the graph has gotten better, but still the trade is high, why is this situation prevailing then? This should be a must do for the concerned authorities in whose hands are the lives of this wonderful specie.

Collision at Sea Tac airport


Two southwest airline planes had to be placed out of service due to a collision at the international airport


Seattle times informed that it was a slow moving collision following which the planes were removed from service. Early Monday morning, around 6.30 am was when this collision took place.
 Awaiting towing for boarding the planes were fine until one of them, a Boejing 737 rolled forward, by mistake and the front of the plane then clashed with the wing of another waiting plane.


This was reported by the times after speaking to a spokesman from the airport where the incident took place. A thorough analysis is being carried out as to what the cause was and both planes are not in use at the moment. There were no injuries and no serious damage occurred however an investigation is still being carried out to avoid the like happening again.

Speaking to the times Mr. Cooper insisted that the accident was a rare occurrence and “all of the airlines are very safe about moving them around”. However according to Mike Cantrell this should never have happened. Speaking to KIRO he believed there was no excuse and indicated that the financial loss for an occurrence like this is very high.


A southwest spokeswoman wrote to the times telling them that the aircrafts are both being thoroughly examined to determine whether any repairs should be carried out before resuming services. When they will return to service and how long the whole evaluation will take has not been made clear for both the jets. All that is known is Southwest’s current investigation to identify the cause of this expensive and inexcusable collision.

With two planes out of service delays are expected however workers are trying their best to assist the passengers affected by this Sea-Tac incident. A close up view of the collision was provided by NBC DFW.  A quick thinking worker also filmed the incident from where she was which gave a new angle to analyze. Unfortunately just less than a month ago Oakland international airport had a similar incident where the wings off two southwest planes clashed.


 Although again there were no injuries and no serious damage was done, it was significantly expensive and two similar events in one month indicates that the whole system needs to be thoroughly analyzed and necessary changes must be made to ensure that these accidents do not become a frequent occurrence.
